2007 $25 Gold Eagles: MS-70 or PF-70

Which would be worth more in the long run? Is proof neccesarily better or do they sometimes appreciate less then the regular coin? I don't know anything about numismatic so sorry if this is a dumb question. :smokin:

As bullion value rises, the numismatic premium decreases on "common" coins. That's why we lost so many Morgan's, Walker's, Barber's etc in the early 80's. "Common" date issue's of old silver may fetch quite a premium in 50 years.

not a dumb question. depends on mintage and how many survive. for new issues its pretty much all about mintage, seems to me.

on old issues, if there are a lot of proofs but not a lot of really nice business strikes, then the business strikes are the ones to have

go buy the 2008 redbook and study the charts, you will see what I mean
